Livelihood, forest and wildlife conservation are important issues. These issues were worked on in tribal villages located in the buffer zone around KANHA TIGER RESERVE in Balaghat. First displacement, then restrictions on NTFP from forests and then climate change have greatly affected tribal communities with weak socio-economic conditions. All these have affected the livelihood and livelihood opportunities of the tribal community. We integrated conservation and livelihood by working actively and intensively with the communities. The work done with about 1200 families in 28 villages has created a model in which both livelihood, forest and wildlife conservation have become possible. Options have also been obtained to deal with the challenges of climate change.
